Lions Youth Of The Year 2022

Dear School Community,

Students from the Year 11 English class have been given the exciting opportunity to participate in the local Lions Youth of the Year Competition. This competition entails an interview process during the school day, as well as answering 2 impromptu questions and presenting a prepared speech in front of the Lucindale Lions Club panel in the evening.

Students have spent their first weeks at school preparing their speeches on a topic they are passionate about during our English lessons. Their speeches fit into the school assessment for English, and the competition allows them to present them, as well as to develop other skills including interview processes.

The competition will be held on Tuesday 1 March at the Lucindale Lions Club Hall. Parents of participating students are invited to attend this evening, however due to COVID-19 restrictions, siblings will not be able to attend. The speeches will be broken up by a dinner, provided by the Lucindale Lions Club. Students and parents will need to arrive at the hall by 6:45pm to be ready for a 7pm start.

If you are unable to attend, I will do my best to ensure all speeches are recorded and made available to families if they wish.

I would like to apologise for the late notice of this event, however, we had to wait for COVID restrictions to ease before being able to promote and go ahead with the event in the traditional way.

Thank you for supporting your child in this wonderful opportunity, and please do not hesitate to contact me at school if you have any questions.
