Our Town
Lucindale is centrally located in the Limestone
Coast region in the South East of South Australia.
A small rural town with a very dynamic community
spirit, Lucindale is well known for its Field Days, which are usually
held the third Friday & Saturday each March at Yakka Park. The
community, along with the local Lions Club, rally their resources,
talents and manpower together to host this event which brings more than
20,000 visitors to the township. The town boasts expansive green lawns,
ideal for a picnic, as well as rose beds, fabulous gum trees, flora and
fauna, all set in peaceful surrounds.
Within the district there are many lakes, natural
parklands and conservation parks to cater for naturalists of all kinds,
bird enthusiasts, bike riders, walkers, photographers, botanists, or
four-wheel drive enthusiasts.
For the sporting enthusiast, there is golf on the
magnificent 18-hole watered course at the country club, or perhaps a hit
of tennis on one of the lush green lawn courts. Lawn bowls is available
within the township and there is a challenging karting track on the
outskirts of town.
Lucindale’s location is only a short drive for fun
and activities at nearby lakes and seaside towns. A half hour drive will
take you to see the Naracoorte Caves - inscribed on the World Heritage
List in 1994 due to the extensive fossil deposits found within the
caves. For historians, the Lucindale Historical Society has developed an
outstanding museum at the old railway station that records the areas
diverse and dynamic history.
